Conservative commentators and MAGA diehards are expressing outrage over the controversial release of documents linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case by the White House. This event saw several right-wing social media influencers given access to supposedly declassified files, which contained information that had been public knowledge for years.
On Thursday, the Justice Department, following orders from Attorney General Pamela Bondi, unveiled a collection of documents known as The Epstein Files: Part I. Interestingly, these documents were presented to a group of right-wing social media personalities including Mike Cernovich, Liz Wheeler, Jack Posobiec, Rogan O’Handley (DC Draino), and Chaya Raichik (Libs of TikTok). They were spotted leaving the White House with binders labeled as the first phase release of the Epstein files.
Reports indicate that the documents included copies of flight logs from Epstein’s private plane and a redacted address book allegedly created by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Additionally, a list of masseuses and an evidence list with over 150 items such as nude images and sex toys were also revealed. It remains unclear which case these items are related to.
The response from some prominent Trump supporters on social media criticized the lack of new information in the release, specifically pointing fingers at the right-wing influencers and Bondi. Laura Loomer, a political activist, voiced skepticism over the validity of the Epstein files and called for Bondi’s resignation due to the manner of the rollout.
In a series of tweets, Loomer expressed disappointment in the influencers’ handling of the documents and questioned the administration’s transparency. Other figures like Dave Portnoy, Kevin Sorbo, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna also shared their frustrations with the release of the Epstein files.
Raheem Kassem, a former editor at Breitbart, detailed a behind-the-scenes account of the document rollout, describing it as a “clusterfuck.” He revealed that President Trump was in possession of the documents containing Epstein’s flight and phone call logs. Kassem pointed out the lack of new information in the documents and the blame placed on Bondi and her team.
Following the backlash, Bondi wrote a letter to the FBI Director, requesting the full Epstein files, and directing an immediate investigation into why her initial order was not followed. The FBI committed to providing all related documents to the Department of Justice.
