In 2025, audiences can expect Alexander Skarsgård to star in a new comedic sci-fi thriller from Academy Award nominees Chris and Paul Weitz titled “Murderbot.” This series is an adaptation of Martha Wells‘ bestselling book series “The Murderbot Diaries” for Apple TV+.
Skarsgård plays the lead role in “Murderbot,” portraying a self-hacking security robot with hidden artificial intelligence that is struggling to find its place in the universe. The show combines elements of sci-fi, thriller, and comedy.
The star-studded cast of “Murderbot” includes Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, and Akshay Khanna, with Tattiawna Jones and Tamara Podemski rounding out the main cast.
The Weitz brothers are responsible for writing, directing, and producing the series through their Depth of Field banner. Executive producers also include David S. Goyer, Keith Levine, and Skarsgård. The first two episodes of “Murderbot” will premiere on May 16, with new episodes airing weekly until July 11.
