To celebrate Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary, SNL50: The Homecoming Concert was a star-studded event that aired live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on NBC. The concert featured performances from iconic artists such as David Byrne, Lady Gaga, Devo, Nirvana, and more. The SNL50 concert brought together different eras of the show’s musical guests with memorable skits, surprise appearances, and collaborations spanning generations. From David Byrne and Robyn performing “Dancing on My Own” to Lady Gaga and Andy Samberg singing a medley of The Lonely Island’s hits, the concert was full of exciting moments.
Highlights of the event included the B-52’s performing “Love Shack” with Fred Armisen, Bowen Yang, and Sarah Sherman, a Nirvana reunion with Post Malone on vocals for “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and Cher singing “If I Could Turn Back Time.” Other standout performances included Devo with Armisen, a Fugees mini-reunion, Miley Cyrus with Brittany Howard, and Bill Murray singing with Maya Rudolph and Cecily Strong.
Various artists also performed solo songs, such as Eddie Vedder, Miley Cyrus, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lady Gaga, and more. Additionally, Arcade Fire, David Byrne, St. Vincent, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band played a medley of “Heroes” and “Wake Up.”
