Paul Thomas Anderson is gearing up for his biggest project yet, a $115 million Warner Bros. summer tentpole featuring A-list stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Regina Hall. Titled One Battle After Another, the film is a modern adaptation of Thomas Pynchon’s novel Vineland, with a focus on white supremacists and intense action sequences.
Recently, the film held its first test screening in Phoenix, Arizona, with Anderson in attendance. Early reports from attendees suggest that the film is nearly finished and promises to be a thrilling ride with an emphasis on action and car chases. The film’s score, composed by Jonny Greenwood, is described as chilling yet epic with techno elements.
Drawing inspiration from films like Something Wild and Repo Man, One Battle After Another is said to expertly blend thrills, humor, and emotion. Anderson himself has praised Alex Cox’s Repo Man, expressing admiration for its unique style and night scenes.
Fans eagerly await the first trailer for One Battle After Another, which is expected to be released in the coming months. In the meantime, they can check out trailers for the films that inspired Anderson, including Something Wild and Repo Man.
