The 2025 Golden Globes were a disappointing night for Oscar hopeful Anora, despite having five nominations. The Palme d’Or-winning film, directed by Sean Baker, went home empty-handed while The Substance won best actress in a musical or comedy for Demi Moore. Other films like The Wild Robot and A Complete Unknown, with multiple nominations, were also shut out. Conclave and Challengers, with multiple nominations, only managed to win one award each.
Wicked, a box-office success with four nominations, only won for best cinematic and box-office achievement. The TV series The Bear, with the most TV nominations, only won one award for actor in a comedy series. Surprises included Fernanda Torres winning best drama actress for I’m Still Here and Flow winning in the animated film category against Inside Out 2 and The Wild Robot.
In the TV categories, Shogun actor Tadanobu Asano was a surprise winner. Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions is owned by Penske Media Eldridge, a joint venture that also owns The Hollywood Reporter.
