Wasserman is set to enhance its music unit by bringing on board two former co-heads of WME’s hip-hop division. Kevin Shivers, James Rubin, and Christina Baxter are in talks to join Wasserman’s talent management and production company. This move comes after the trio failed to reach a new deal with WME, with Shivers seeking a leadership role. The remaining co-leads of WME’s hip-hop division, Caroline Yim and Zach Iser, will continue to lead the division.
It is unclear which clients will transition to Wasserman, with considerations being given to the firm best suited for film and television work for hip-hop artists and touring potential. Shivers, who has been with WME since 2008, represents clients like Travis Scott, Tyler the Creator, and Snoop Dogg. Rubin, who joined WME in 2015, works with acts like Run the Jewels and Action Bronson. Baxter, a partner at WME since 2022, represents artists like Miley Cyrus and Kygo.
Wasserman, with over 3,000 employees and a strong sports and entertainment clientele, has been expanding its music roster since acquiring Paradigm Talent Agency’s North American live music representation business four years ago. Joining Wasserman’s music unit marks a new chapter for these industry professionals, bringing their expertise to a growing powerhouse in the industry.
