Donald Trump has named television producer Mark Burnett as his special envoy to the United Kingdom. The announcement was made on TRUTH Social, with Trump praising Burnett’s experience in television production and business, as well as his diplomatic skills.
With a successful career in creating and producing hit shows like Survivor, Shark Tank, and The Apprentice, Burnett brings a unique blend of skills to his new role. Trump highlighted Burnett’s 13 Emmy Awards and his previous role as Chairman of MGM.
In his new position, Burnett will focus on enhancing diplomatic relations between the United States and the United Kingdom, with a specific emphasis on trade, investment opportunities, and cultural exchanges.
During Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016, Burnett faced pressure to release old tapes featuring Trump from The Apprentice. However, Burnett clarified that he was not a supporter of Trump’s candidacy and denounced the hatred and misogyny associated with his campaign.
Despite the demand for the tapes, MGM lawyers stated that they were not Burnett’s to release as the studio owned the show. The studio emphasized their commitment to honoring artists’ rights and confidentiality agreements related to The Apprentice.
Overall, Mark Burnett’s appointment as special envoy to the United Kingdom reflects Trump’s confidence in his abilities to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two countries.
