Nicholas Hoult made some unusual new friends after finishing filming for Nosferatu – 5,000 rodent friends, to be exact. The actor, known for his role in the upcoming supernatural horror film alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Bill Skarsgard, recently shared his experience on The Graham Norton Show. He mentioned that the movie had a “big rat budget” with around 5,000 rats on set, some of which were even trained.
During the show, Hoult also mentioned the challenges of working with rats, describing them as incontinent and causing a bit of a stench on set. Despite the difficulties, he found humor in the situation, joking about the rats’ behavior with the host.
Nosferatu, a remake of the classic German film from 1922, tells a gothic tale of obsession between a young woman and a vampire. The film is set to hit theaters on Dec. 25.
Hoult also shared a humorous anecdote about a scene involving rats where Bill Skarsgard, his co-star, had to endure being locked in a sarcophagus with the furry creatures. Despite the challenging scene, Hoult found himself inadvertently causing delays during filming, much to Skarsgard’s dismay.
Overall, the experience of working with rats on the set of Nosferatu provided some memorable moments for the cast and crew.
