Disney is known for its live-action remakes and the latest news is that Michael Gracey, the director of The Greatest Showman, is in talks to direct the live-action remake of Tangled. This retelling of the Rapunzel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm follows the story of a long-lost princess desperate to leave her isolated tower. When a runaway thief stumbles upon her, she embarks on an adventure to experience the world outside.
The live-action version of Tangled is expected to stay true to the original story, with Jennifer Laytin Robinson working on the script. Disney has a lineup of live-action remakes in the works, including Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel that explores the origin of Mufasa, set to be released on December 20th. There’s also a live-action Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler and a remake of Lilo & Stitch scheduled for release in 2025.
