The 29th annual Art Directors Guild Awards took place on February 15 at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown and honored outstanding production design in various categories. Among the winners were “Nosferatu” for period feature film, “Wicked” for fantasy feature film, and “Conclave” for contemporary feature film. Additionally, “The Wild Robot” won for animation.
Craig Lathrop’s work on “Nosferatu,” where he recreated a 19th-century German town and a 15th-century Romanian castle, earned him the win for period feature film. Nathan Crowley’s imaginative re-invention of Oz in “Wicked” positioned him as a top contender for an Oscar. Patrice Vermette’s deep dive into the cultures on Arrakis and Giedi Prime in “Dune: Part Two” showcased his talent.
The ADG also presented Lifetime Achievement awards to Lisa Frazza, Barbara Mesney, Dan Sweetman, and J. Dennis Washington, while inducting Carl Jules Weyl into the ADG Hall of Fame. The 2025 Cinematic Imagery Award was given to Jason Reitman.
